Assemble is a series of ceramic objects that are created by combining a standard block with a different shape every time it is molded. Each object is a unique piece of art, and the process of creating it is a reflection of the artist's thoughts and ideas. The objects are made from a variety of materials, including ceramic, glass, and metal, and are designed to be both functional and decorative.
Assembleは、規格の決まったブロックを成形のたびに組み換え、都度違う形状が現れる、その一連のプロセスが作品です。今回は変容する型に対し、流し込む土も一つの変数として捉え、訪れた土地の土を採用しました。 atawでの展示に際して私たちは何度も福井県の鯖江を訪れ、フィールドワークを重ねていく中で、越前瓦に使われる福井県の土に出会いました。 福井県は日本でも有数の豪雪地帯であり、大雪時には1m以上積もることもある地域です。 そのため越前瓦に使われる土は、屋根から雪が落ち通行人を傷つけるのを防止するのとともに、屋根の上での雪下ろしを安全に行うため、滑り止めの役割として小石や砂利のような不純物を残すのが特徴となっています。
The mold, which originally allows for variables, seamlessly incorporates the changes in the soil. The interplay between the rustic texture unique to Echizen clay and the sharp edges of assemble brings out new aspects of each, creating a series that highlights their new dimensions.
もともと変数を許容する型は、土の変化を違和感無く内包します。 面に現れる瓦の土ならではの滋味深い表情と、assembleのもつシャープなエッジの表情が相互作用となり、それぞれの新たな側面を引き出したシリーズになっています。
