PACKING FOR THE METHOD

This project emerged naturally from our practice of creating transformable objects that prioritize method. When transporting transformable objects, we cannot rely on standardized, one-size-fits-all packaging like that used for mass-produced items. Designing a unique box for every different size and shape would be inefficient and unsustainable. Therefore, the packaging for transformable objects must also be capable of transformation.

この取り組みは、私たちがメソッドを重視する変容するオブジェクトを作る中で必然的に生まれました。
変容するオブジェクトを運送する際、量産品の梱包のように定型の一義的な箱を用意することはできません。なぜならば、さまざまなな様々な寸法や形状に対して都度専用の箱を設計していては非効率的で持続性がないからです。
変容するオブジェクトを包むための梱包もまた変容できるあり方でなければならないのです。

This is not a matter of simply placing the object in a standard box; rather, it requires the practitioner to actively engage their creativity, much like wrapping with a furoshiki cloth, responding to the form of the object being packed.

それは単に定型の箱に入れればよいというものではなく、風呂敷のように、梱包をするオブジェクトの形態に応答しながら実践者自身が創造性を働かせる必要があります。

This project embraces small scale not as a limitation but as a generative stance. By keeping the format open-ended, each piece can continue to change in response to place, material, and the gestures of the person who engages with it.

この実践では、三角形を描くグリッドの切れ込みを入れたダンボールを用いています。折り紙の数学的な研究に用いられてきた構造は、ダンボールをより有機的に、自由に、対象の形態に寄り添うことを可能にします。

This project will continue to be refined through our ongoing practice, with the ultimate goal of establishing it as a methodology that can be shared with others. In its current form, the level of freedom may be too high for some to handle. By providing a certain framework or set of rules, it can evolve into a robust methodology.

この取り組みは、私たちの今後の活動を通じて継続して実践を重ねていき、最終的には他者にも渡せる方法論として確立することを目指しています。現段階のアウトプットでは、あまりに自由度が高すぎるが故に、この梱包を扱えない人もいるでしょう。ある程度の枠組みやルールを用意することで、方法論となるはずです。
